(1) The 2026 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations provide requirements for the Central Zone. However, additional regulations may be adopted in this rule division from time to time and to the extent of any inconsistency, they supersede the 2026 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations. (2) Seasonal closures prohibiting angling may be enacted to provide additional protection for upriver summer steelhead. (3) The closures will be in the lower Deschutes River from river mile 0 to 100, as described below. (4) Except as described above, other permanent rules apply. (5) Nothing in this rule precludes the Department from recommending or enacting, as needed for conservation purposes, protective measures for Deschutes River steelhead not described in this rule. (6) The Deschutes River is closed as follows: (a) Effective August 15 through December 31, closed to angling for and retention of salmon and steelhead from the mouth at the west bound Interstate 84 Bridge upstream to the upper railroad trestle three miles downstream of Sherars Falls; (b) Effective August 15 through December 31, closed to angling for and retention of steelhead from the upper railroad trestle three miles downstream of Sherars Falls upstream to Sherars Falls; (c) Effective August 15 through December 31, closed to angling for and retention of steelhead and coho salmon from Sherars Falls upstream to the Pelton Reregulating Reservoir.
